Who's Smiling?
The Smiling Land Foundation consists of five ordinary people with extraordinary plans and the hearts to match. They are proud Newfoundland and Labradorians who have come together to spread that feeling of joy to the province they love and beyond. The Foundation strives to spread Canada’s warm and welcoming East Coast culture and spirit through The Rockin’ Big Give fundraiser in support of a different Newfoundland and Labrador charity each year. This one-of-a-kind Toronto kitchen party caters to an adult audience looking for a uniquely Canadian cultural celebration while contributing to a worthwhile cause.
The Smiling Land Foundation is comprised of Paul Sparkes, Executive Vice Chair and Co-founder of Difference Capital Inc.; Jennifer Bishop, partner in law firm Miller Thomson LLP; Chris Henley, founder and President of Henley Capital Corporation; Jen Power, major gift fundraiser with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health Foundation, Canada's largest mental health hospital; and Tim Powers, Vice-President of Summa Communications, an Ottawa-based strategic communications firm. The Smiling Land Foundation board is supported by a strong advisory committee consisting of Mark MacLeod, Vice President, Atlantic Canada, Chevron Canada Limited; Seamus O'Regan, Correspondent, CTV National News; Glenn Stanford, Chief Operating Officer, St. John's IceCaps; Alan Doyle, well-known front man for Great Big Sea; Allan Hawco, actor, writer, and Executive Producer and lead in the highly popular and successful series “The Republic of Doyle;” and Kevin Casey, co-owner and ‘Chief Idea Officer’ of The Idea Factory.
